Setting off from Victoria station in London, he gets a fond fare. Ibrahim Koma and Leonie Benesch, as Fogg’s fellow globetrotters Passepartout and Abigail ‘Fix’ Fortescue, do a grand job of urging the action along in these instances. When Fogg receives a postcard labelling him a coward, the London eccentric makes a wager that he can traverse the globe in just 80 days.
There’s also a dash of humility (again a reminder of his stint as Doctor Who) that makes his protagonist a very likeable one, if slightly frustrating in those ‘too much talk, too little walk’ moments.ĭavid Tennant is a natural fit for the role of Fogg (BBC / Slim 80 Days) When he gazes at the hot air balloon, you might just believe he’s seeing it for the first time, and when he insists that it should fly, “like a bird, like an angel,” you’ll probably find yourself nodding along in keen agreement.
